Althorp Collection End Table Butterfly
Four wing-shaped panels unfold from a central pedestal in a quatrefoil silhouette, each surface richly adorned with hand-painted marquetry that mimics the layered scales and flowing curves of butterfly wings in warm amber, mahogany, and ebony tones. This European antique-inspired accent table draws from 18th-century English Regency craft traditions, where painted and inlaid occasional tables were prized as much for their artistry as their function. The slender turned pedestal rises from elegantly splayed saber legs, a hallmark of Regency-period furniture design that lends the piece both poise and stability. Each hinged leaf opens independently, allowing the table to expand or contract to suit its setting — a thoughtful detail that speaks to the ingenuity of the original tradition.
