Antique Indian Support Beam
A bold wash of weathered turquoise-green draws the eye up the sinuous form of this antique Indian architectural support beam, its hand-carved body shaped into a stylized peacock figure — a sacred motif in Indian decorative tradition symbolizing grace and protection. Rows of incised diagonal stripes texture the wings, while a hand-carved eight-pointed star medallion anchors the lower body, its natural wood tones revealed where centuries of use have worn the paint to a luminous patina. Once part of a haveli or temple veranda, these ornamental brackets carried both structural weight and spiritual intention, making each one a genuine piece of living history. Mounted on a simple iron base, it stands as a one-of-a-kind sculptural accent that brings depth and artisan character to any interior — from a Scottsdale hacienda to a collector's study.
