Art France Circa 1650
Thick impasto strokes build peonies and wild blooms into a composition that practically lifts off the canvas — the artist's hand unmistakably present in every petal and leaf. Signed in the lower left, this oil-on-board still life carries the expressive energy of the French Post-Impressionist tradition, where color and texture did the work of realism. The ornate gilt frame, carved with rope-twist molding and acanthus leaf detailing, is itself a work of European antique craftsmanship worthy of the painting it holds. A one-of-a-kind signed work that brings genuine provenance and artisan character to any curated interior.
