Scalloped cornices crown this bleached oak vaisselier — a French provincial dresser dating to approximately 1750 — where three open shelves with hand-carved plate grooves once displayed the finest faïence in a Burgundian or Norman farmhouse. The lower buffet features deeply molded raised-panel doors, three carved center drawers, and original iron ring pulls, all riding atop a serpentine apron and cabriole feet that speak to the Louis XV influence pervasive in 18th-century provincial cabinetry. Nearly 270 years of use have only deepened the warmth of the oak, its honey-blond patina the kind that cannot be manufactured. As a one-of-a-kind European antique now available in Scottsdale, it brings centuries of living history into the dining room, library, or great room with equal authority.
