Originating from the Dordogne region of southwestern France circa 1950, this double-handled vessel follows a form that rural French potters had refined for centuries — used historically for storing olive oil, wine, or preserved foods. The coil-thrown lower body, still bearing the subtle ridges of the potter's hand, transitions into a smooth, voluminous upper form anchored by two arched strap handles and a fitted stopper. As a piece of imported European artisan pottery, it brings authentic Old World character to a hacienda-style interior, a Spanish Colonial great room, or a curated Scottsdale home.
