Hand-painted dots of cream and sage green radiate across warm terracotta clay in the traditional Tonalá folk art style that has defined Mexican artisan pottery for generations. This pot brasero — a small clay brazier and vessel set — reflects the pre-Hispanic tradition of earthenware cooking and warming vessels still crafted by hand in the workshops of Jalisco, Mexico. The arched opening at the base of the pedestal allows airflow to a candle or small heat source, gently warming whatever rests in the shallow bowl above. Hand-shaped and fired in the artisan tradition, each piece carries the subtle irregularities that distinguish imported Mexican handcrafted pottery from anything mass-produced.
